Girls + Technology Can Change Guyana
Empowering girls and young women across Guyana to learn, create, earn, and lead through technology.
Girls + Technology helps young girls explore education and employment opportunities in ICT by understanding their real needs, removing barriers, and creating practical programmes that connect technology to their dreams, communities, and future careers.

Girls + Technology was created to give girls and young women a stronger voice in Guyana’s digital future. We believe technology is not only for coders or computer scientists, it is for entrepreneurs, designers, problem-solvers, students, leaders, and every girl with a dream.
Through surveys, community outreach, workshops, mentorship, and partnerships, we work to understand what prevents girls from accessing ICT opportunities and then design projects that help them learn, earn, and grow.

Why This Work Matters
Many girls have access to mobile phones and the internet, but that does not always become employable skills, business opportunities, or confidence in ICT careers. Girls + Technology was created to help bridge that gap.
The project has focused on listening directly to girls and communities across Guyana, including Georgetown, Linden, Berbice, and Parika, to better understand access, interest, financial barriers, and the kinds of training girls actually want.
From the Linden outreach report, volunteers found that many girls and women were enthusiastic about technology training, believed it would benefit individuals and the wider community, and welcomed the initiative despite limited access to computers and WiFi.

To empower girls and young women in Guyana to access education, training, mentorship, and employment opportunities in technology.
A Guyana where every girl has the confidence, access, and support to use technology to improve her life, her family, her community, and her country.
What we do

Hands-on sessions that introduce girls to ICT, digital tools, robotics, design, coding, and online opportunities.

Connecting girls with women in technology, business, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Helping young women see how ICT skills can lead to jobs, freelancing, business, and entrepreneurship.

Listening to girls, parents, and communities so programmes are built around real needs.

Creating opportunities for girls to express ideas, solve problems, and build confidence through technology.
From Access to Opportunity
Internet access is only the beginning. Our survey showed that many girls in Guyana still face barriers such as limited access to computers, training, community ICT resources, and financial support.
Girls + Technology helps bridge that gap by giving girls the skills, confidence, and support to turn technology into real education and career opportunities.
